Top 12 Tips to Make the Most of Your Preloved Treasure Hunt at IBU Bazaar 2025
If it’s your first time at the IBU Family Bazaar, welcome! You’re in for a fun, fast-paced and family-friendly weekend where preloved gems, community spirit and budget wins all come together. Whether you’re here to score baby gear, books, toys or just explore, these tips will help you make the most of your day.
1. Arrive early for the good stuff
Strollers, car seats, play kitchens, dollhouses and safety gates are usually the first to go. Aim to be there as soon as doors open to get the best selection. Want a great deal? Swing by again toward the end of the session many sellers are open to markdowns just before packing up.
2. Come with a wishlist
Know what you’re looking for, it’s easy to get distracted! Whether it’s a specific brand of baby carrier or age-appropriate books for your toddler, jot down your must-haves so you can shop with purpose.
3. Look closely and dig a little
Some of the best finds are tucked in boxes, baskets, or under tables. Don’t be afraid to take your time and have a proper rummage. Sellers often bring more than what fits on their display.
4. Do more than one round
Things get picked up, tried out, and sometimes put back. What wasn’t there in the morning might appear by afternoon. Keep looping back, you might spot something you missed (or that just arrived).
5. Be kind when bargaining
Preloved doesn’t mean free, but friendly haggling is part of the fun. If you’re buying multiple items or think a price could budge a bit, ask politely. A warm smile and respectful tone go a long way.
6. Stay fuelled
You’ll find snacks and food vendors at the bazaar, take a break, have a bite, and recharge. A well-fed shopper is a sharper shopper (and let’s be honest, way less cranky).
7. Bring your own bags (and maybe a trolley)
Help reduce waste and make life easier by carrying your own reusable bags or even a foldable trolley. You never know when you’ll find something a little bulkier than planned.

8. Keep some cash and e-wallets ready
Some vendors accept cash only, while others prefer e-wallets like Touch ’n Go, DuitNow or GrabPay. Having both options prepped will save you a trip to the ATM.
9. Think ahead for birthdays & holidays
Preloved doesn’t mean second-best. You can often find beautiful books, toys, and puzzles that are gift-worthy — especially for playdates or party favours. Stock up for the year ahead!
10. Dress comfy & hands-free
You’ll be walking, browsing, bending, lifting… Leave the oversized handbag at home and go for a sling or backpack. Wear comfy shoes and bring water, you’ll thank yourself later.
11. Plan for the kids
If you’re bringing little ones, take advantage of the craft booths and activity zones! That way, everyone has a good time (and you get some space to browse).
12. Think sustainably
Every preloved item you buy is one less thing going to waste. It’s a small but powerful way to care for the planet while saving money. Win-win.
