Playgroup

Please click on UPDATES and CALENDAR for latest listings of the happenings organised by ibu.

Playgroups are open to children aged 0-5 years and are held some weekday morning, plus occasional weekends and afternoons. They are also held within the ibu centre or externally at a business or at someones house or at a park. (If you would like to start a playgroup and you are an ibu member, please do email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. )

Playgroups offer your child the chance to play and interact with other children in an informal setting while you are reassuringly close. ibu provides a dedicated space for parents and children that is unique in KL with a wide variety of play opportunities including dress up, role playing, train tracks, extensive kitchen. Kids love our library and range of crafts available too.

Parent volunteers coordinate each playgroup and children attend playgroup with either a parent or their main carer (if both parents are working).

BABY SIGN CLASSES AT IBU NOW! Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are keen to sign up.

Babies can use gross motor skills (e.g. moving their arms and hand) sooner than they can speak words, which takes fine motor skills and much more neurological development, so they can actually learn how to talk to you and your family using hand signs before they learn to talk using verbal words.

Speaking words with the signs will also motivate your child to learn to speak the words verbally because caregivers don't have to be looking at the child to hear the word, so they'll learn that they get attention faster when they speak rather than sign.

Research has shown that babies who sign before they talk are less frustated, cry less, talk sooner, have larger vocabularies and score higher on IQ tests.

Mei Lum, a certified baby sign language instructor, has kindly offered to teach baby signs at ibu every Tuesday starting from 15th Jan 2013 (Tue) 9.15-10.00am. Ages can range from 0-3yrs but the earlier you start, the more benefits you reap.

Fee is Rm20 for members, RM40 for non members. Payment is required prior to classes as space is limited to guarantee a spot. Please do sign up with Joan (limited to 5 babies only!). 03-6211 9183 / This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
